Pain Medicine Application Process

Per ACGME Institutional Requirements, applicants for Pain Medicine training at UTHSCSA must meet one of the following qualifications:

• Graduate of a medical school in the U.S. and Canada accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA)
• Graduate of an international medical school, with a valid ECFMG certificate
• Graduate of an international medical school who has completed a Fifth Pathway program provided by an LCME-accredited medical school

The residency specialties allowed to apply to the Pain Medicine Program are Anesthesiology, Neurology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Psychiatry.

Applicants need to submit an application form, letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and three letters of recommendation. The deadline for submittal is October 15 of the preceding year.
